If your starting a paintball field, looking to grow your existing paintball field or just want to raise your profits, this blog is for you.

Disneyland is by far the Gold Standard for monetizing memories, however many of those formulas are a challenge to duplicate at a paintball field. So I’m going to use the famous nationwide restaurant Benihana for my example today. The founder was light years a head of his time, actually cooking in front of you and doing fun food tricks. 30+ years before Food network was even invented.

So why bring them up, well, if your celebrating a birthday or special event there, they take your picture and then print it out on the spot, then give it to you in a Benihana frame before you leave. It’s a great memory and a great keep sake to stick on the fridge. But again, not the easiest to duplicate at a paintball field.

Here is what you can do for FREE along the same lines, and it’s very effective. When doing private groups or birthday parties, have your head reff or field manager, grab some shots on their smart phone or your designated device. Take some shots in the staging area and also behind the nets of the birthday boy or group leader in action. Then approx 1  week later e-mail Mom or the group leader the pictures. With a little thank you for coming note and a request for them to refer some new business to you.

It works like a charm, Take Action and try it today! For more great idea blogs check out the bottom of MoneyPaintballGlobal.com

I was at the dentist not too long ago and I came across the People magazine with Angelina Jolie talking about a paintball wedding on the cover. Needless to say it got my attention! If your looking to start a paintball field or your a long time paintball field owner, pay close attention.

Most Americans and now the world want so desperately to do what movie stars do. Take advantage of this global FREE advertising campaign, courtesy of  People magazine. This magazine is read by 42 million people and seen by over 150 million. That is half of the U.S. population!  They have all seen the cover and thought; Hmmm, a paintball wedding, that’s interesting.

Do you advertise paintball weddings on your website now? Why not? Have you sent out an email blast to your existing customer list offering a paintball wedding?  Take Action and do it right now, here is an example of what to say:

Subject line: Paintball Wedding like Brad Pitt and Angelina.

(Remember, the only purpose of a subject line is to get them to open the e-mail.)

Email Body: I’m sure you saw the recent People magazine talking about Brad Pitt and Angelina’s paintball wedding. Now you can do it too. Etc.. Etc… Etc… you can fill in the rest. Make sure to offer in the e-mail  a special promo coupon, like a buy one get one free for all your customers that are not ready to get married : )

Don’t panic, you don’t need to hire a wedding coordinator yet! But this may turn out to be a home run for your paintball field.  Are you going to do a wedding every weekend? Not likely, but you will book 100% more weddings by letting people know it’s available.

Next and most importantly, this article puts paintball on the front of people’s minds. Just like we talked about in previous blogs with Bud Light’s huge paintball campaign. Now that people are already thinking about paintball, they just need a good excuse to go play. Like a promo e-mail from you or a special Living Social campaign done right,  where you actually make money. We can do that for you at no charge! Just give us a call 310-750-6218 or e-mail evan@moneypaintball.org

Actually it’s the popular “WhatsApp” that Facebook scooped up for $19 billion, give or take in early 2014. So what does this have to do with starting a paintball field or the paintball industry for that matter?

Owning a paintball field is very similar to the social media business explosion in this way, they both don’ t play by the rules.  If you try to apply traditional business rules to “WhatsApp” or any of the recently purchased social media companies in the last 5 years, you will notice they all break the rules. Some would accuse Facebook’s owner Mark Zuckerberg of spending money like a drunken sailor and that all the recent companies he purchased for billions of dollars are over valued. Perhaps Mark knows something these “so called” experts that have never started a company do not.

These traditional rules of business do not apply to paintball either. Some do, but many do not, simply because owning a paintball field is one of the most forgiving business models out there. When done correctly you have massive margins and you can barter just about anything you need with a ” Free Play” coupon.  These large margins allow you to make mistakes and still recover, unlike traditional businesses where one or two mistakes and your bankrupt.

With that said, I have seen many paintball field owners drive their businesses into the ground by simply snorting all their profits up their nose or finding numerous other vices to blow their cash on before the bank opens on Monday.

Numerous paintball field owners pocket all the cash ( approx 60% of revenue ) and simply report all the credit card transactions to the tax man. That’s a lot of cash on hand! Many can not handle it and they self destruct as the money “burns a hole in their pocket.”

The take away from all this is, to learn all you can from trusted advisers that actually know about the paintball industry and from trusted advisers about how to handle your wealth and your emotions.

Before we look at the new game, let’s define the old game first. This applies to starting a paintball field or just life in general. The old game is waking up every day doing what you hate, go to work, come home, rinse and repeat. You were made for better than this. You are better than this!

The new game is doing what you love!  The new game is spending time doing something you believe in! Something that will not only create wealth for your family but create a better community. Do you think Southern California and Orlando Florida are better off because Walt Disney built parks there? Do the same for your community, provide a safe place for people of all ages to go and have a great time!

For the most part people are not coming to your park to play paintball, they are coming to escape their problems and have a great experience with family and friends. Tom Staggs, the chairman of Walt Disney Company’s parks and resorts says it this way. ” We’re known for castles and tea cups and cruise ships, but at the end of the day, we’re in the experience business.”  Step up and be the man or woman to provide this in your community, you will glad you did.

We are here to help with 100% financing, even if you don’t have perfect credit. We also offer consulting and even a Paintball Franchise that will skyrocket your success rate. Take Action on your dream today.

What is the #1 most important step when starting a paintball field? It’s not what you think. It isn’t raising capital or finding an investor, it isn’t finding potential locations or even picking your name. The #1 step is…

Decide!  That’s right, you must decide to open your field. The Latin root word of decide means to CUT OFF or KILL , as in to cut off or kill any other alternative than to start a paintball field. Once you do this, the rest is just minor details.

Yes, you still need a name and a location and possible funding ( we we can offer by the way) but the most critical step of all for your success, is to make the decision to start your paintball field. Once you have cut off any alternative, then you can kill the nagging doubts like ” what if it doesn’t work.” etc..  Here is a thought, what if it does work? What if you make so much money you have to open 5 more bank accounts? Think about how much money you are losing by not opening your paintball field.

Take Action now and make a quality decision to start your paintball business today. We are standing by ready to help!

Many people looking to start a paintball field or looking to expand their paintball business are concerned about paying too much in interest rates. Part of this challenge is that we are bombarded with real estate interest rates all the time,  3.5% is all we see at the banks, hear on the radio and see on TV.  However a businesses loan is in a different solar system than a house loan.

As you may have heard, over 85% of new businesses fail in the first 3 years ( our Paintball Franchise has a 100% success rate, but that’s a different blog). The point is, loaning unsecured money to a business is a huge risk, vs. a car loan or a house loan. Simply because the house isn’t going anywhere and with cars they can get them back fairly easily. With a business loan it’s next to impossible to collect when someone goes out of business. For this reason, start up and working capital loans require a higher interest rate to off set the risk, plain and simple.

So, how much is too much?  I must point out that standard VC ( Venture Capitalist ) interest rates are 40% PER YEAR and they take ownership and control of your company. They do this to insure they get their 40%.  VC’s sound really exciting and glamorous but there is much more than meets the eye. A great book about this that is a fun roller coaster read is Ryan Blairs  Nothing to Lose and Everything to Gain.

Recently a paintball field owner called me and said he ran the numbers on his loan that he just paid off. He said, “ Evan, I just paid over $10,000 in interest, that’s too much! “ So I said, have you ever looked at how much interest your paying on your home loan?  Then I asked him what his sales for the year was, he said “approx. $500,000.” He grew from $350,000 the year before. Then I said, don’t you think $10,000 is a small price to invest to get a thriving business that does $500,000 a year?  Plus his entire payment and interest was all tax deductible.  He then replied “ Wow, I never thought of it that way, your right, I got a great deal.” You see without his start up loan, he could have never started his business.

The bottom line is this: interest vs. opportunity. I believe the opportunity of owning a thriving paintball business is worth paying a little interest for. If your looking for start up financing for your paintball field or need working capital to expand, call my direct line at 310-750-6219 or e-mail evan@moneypaintball.org

Current paintball field owners and people looking to start a paintball field pay close attention. First off paintball insurance is really low, approx $1,500 to $4,000 per year depending on your field size, UNTIL YOU HAVE A ACCIDENT CLAIM!

A recent paintball field owner shared with me that his insurance just rose 10 TIMES because he had his first claim. Oh it gets better, the claim was not his fault! Some kid took his goggles off during a game and guess what, he got hit in the eye. I’m not going to bore you with the details of the claim and the attorney vs. the insurance company battles. To be clear, this paintball field owner runs a tight ship, he does 200 to 600 players a day and this was his very first claim ever.

The bottom line is this: A kid took his goggles off.   As a paintball field owner you can have the greatest safety video, the best refs and the safest fields but you can’t stop a kid from taking his mask off, or can you?

Many paintball field owners make the mistake of using the cheapest rental masks they can find. Simply because the masks and the lenses get thrashed very quickly, so why bother paying more. I believe this is a HUGE MISTAKE and one that can save you $50,000 or even $5,000,000 in paintball insurance premiums over the life of your paintball field.

In all our rental paintball packages that we offer on emoneypaintball.net we include high end DYE rental masks THAT ARE VERY COMFORTABLE and fog resistant. If the mask is comfortable there is less of a chance that someone will want to take it off. I have tried on many a so called “rental mask”,  only to rip it off my head in a few seconds because it hurts! So if your looking to start a paintball field or if your already a successful paintball field owner, choose a more comfortable mask, it’s a small price to pay to avoid the pain of high insurance premiums.

Yes, it’s true, the Denver Broncos players used paintball to help get them to the Super Bowl. As someone looking to start a paintball field or if your a current field owner, NFL stars like to play paintball. It’s one of the rare extreme sports their contract will allow them to do.  Take advantage of this!

Denver Bronco star linebacker #59 Danny Trevathan and his teammate David Bruton recently played paintball at our Franchise Paintball Field in Denver Colorado, The Paintball Park Aurora.  Danny was looking for a way to let off a little steam and have fun,  but he soon realized how paintball makes you a better leader. The Bronco defense is seeing this payoff big time.

So if you looking to start a paintball field or grow your existing one, reach out to a local NFL team or any sports team for that matter. The marketing possibilities are endless. Send me an e-mail if you need some tips with this. evan@moneypaintball.org

For many paintball field owners, their favorite time of year is  September through October. Thousands of paintball and laser tag field owners are cashing in on the Halloween Haunt craze with their Money Paintball  battlewagons ( battle wagons)  and walk through mazes.

In fact one field owner in a small town of 40,000 people had 18,000 people take a $10 ride on his battlewagon ( battle wagon) in 45 days! Those are exciting numbers, no wonder paintball field owners want Halloween to be every month. Actually, it can be.

One of the main draws of the haunts is not the scare factor or the special effects, simply put, it’s the fact the people are not shooting back at them! THIS IS THE HUGE DRAW MANY PAINTBALL FIELD OWNERS MISS!

There are millions of people who would love to shoot something but don’t want to get hit back! That’s why the carnivals always have a packed section where you are shooting something that doesn’t hit back. Smart paintball field owners leverage this knowledge and create ways for people to have fun “one way” shooting experiences.  Here are some great examples:

ZIP LINE WITH PAINTBALL TARGETS-  This is the best of both worlds, many field owners have discovered the added revenue stream a zip line can offer, now give them something to shoot at.

SUPER HERO SHOOT- There are many paintball field owners that really don’t like the whole blood and zombie theme of Halloween. Many of these paintball field owners choose to have you shoot Super Heroes instead of Zombies. The best part is, there is always a new Super Hero movie coming out, plan your next Super Hero shoot around the release of the new movie. Why wait for Halloween?

FLYING TARGET RANGE- Laporte, the makers of Word Class Clay Target machines have now made something really amazing for paintball field owners. A flying target range, perfect for paintball and archery, check  out the videos here: http://emoneypaintball.net/flying-target-range-paintball-archery-p-287.html

If your looking to start a paintball field of any kind, keep these ideas in mind.

#1. TAKING ACTION – You must Take Action Now if anything is going to happen, period. No Action, no business. The first action step is to make a decision. Decide that you will start your paintball field no matter what. The root word for decide literally means to cut off, so you want to cut off any other option.

Now the rest of the 9 ingredients below come from my very first mentor in life, the great Jim Rohn. There isn’t a single better person than Jim to cover these key ingredients to your entrepreneurial success in the paintball world.

2. Time.

Time is more valuable than capital. The time you set aside not to be wasted, not to be given away. Time you set aside to be invested in an enterprise that brings value to the marketplace with the hope of making a profit. Now we have capital time.

How valuable is time? Time properly invested is worth a fortune. Time wasted can be devastation. Time invested can perform miracles, so you invest your time.

3. Desperation.

I have a friend Lydia, whose first major investment in her new enterprise was desperation. She said, “My kids are hungry, I gotta make this work. If this doesn’t work, what will I do?” So she invested $1 in her enterprise selling a product she believed in. The $1 was to buy a few fliers so she could make a sale at retail, collect the money and then buy the product wholesale to deliver back to the customer.

My friend Bill Bailey went to Chicago as a teenager after he got out of high school. And the first job he got was as a night janitor. Someone said, “Bill, why would you settle for night janitor?” He said, “Malnutrition.” You work at whatever you can possibly get when you get hungry. You go to work somewhere — night janitor, it doesn’t matter where it is. Years later, now Bill is a recipient of the Horatio Alger award, rich and powerful and one of the great examples of lifestyle that I know. But, his first job — night janitor. Desperation can be a powerful incentive. When you say – I must.

4. Determination.

Determination says I will. First Lydia said, “I must find a customer.” Desperation. Second, she said, “I will find someone before this first day is over.” Sure enough, she found someone. She said, “If it works once, it will work again.” But then the next person said, “No.” Now what must you invest?

5. Courage.

Courage is more valuable than capital. If you’ve only got $1 and a lot of courage, I’m telling you, you’ve got a good future ahead of you. Courage in spite of the circumstances. Humans can do the most incredible things no matter what happens. Haven’t we heard the stories? There are some recent ones from Kosovo that are some of the most classic, unbelievable stories of being in the depths of hell and finally making it out. It’s humans. You can’t sell humans short. Courage in spite of, not because of, but in spite of. Now once Lydia has made 3 or 4 sales and gotten going, here’s what now takes over.

6. Ambition.

“Wow! If I can sell 3, I can sell 33. If I can sell 33, I can sell 103.” Wow. Lydia is now dazzled by her own dreams of the future.

7. Faith.

Now she begins to believe she’s got a good product. This is probably a good company. And she then starts to believe in herself. Lydia, single mother, 2 kids, no job. “My gosh, I’m going to pull it off!” Her self-esteem starts to soar. These are investments that are unmatched. Money can’t touch it. What if you had a million dollars and no faith? You’d be poor. You wouldn’t be rich. Now here is the next one, the reason why she’s a millionaire today.

8. Ingenuity.

Putting your brains to work. Probably up until now, you’ve put about 1/10 of your brainpower to work. What if you employed the other 9/10? You can’t believe what can happen. Humans can come up with the most intriguing things to do. Ingenuity. What’s ingenuity worth? A fortune. It is more valuable than money. All you need is a $1 and plenty of ingenuity. Figuring out a way to make it work, make it work, make it work.

9. Heart and Soul.

What is a substitute for heart and soul? It’s not money. Money can’t buy heart and soul. Heart and soul is more valuable than a million dollars. A million dollars without heart and soul, you have no life. You are ineffective. But, heart and soul is like the unseen magic that moves people, moves people to buy, moves people to make decisions, moves people to act, moves people to respond.

10. Personality.

You’ve just got to spruce up and sharpen up your own personality. You’ve got plenty of personality. Just get it developed to where it is effective every day, it’s effective no matter who you talk to – whether it is a child or whether it is a business person – whether it is a rich person or a poor person. A unique personality that is at home anywhere. My mentor Bill Bailey taught me, “You’ve got to learn to be just as comfortable, Mr. Rohn, whether it is in a little shack in Kentucky having a beer and watching the fights with Winfred, my old friend or in a Georgian mansion in Washington, DC as the Senator’s guest.” Move with ease whether it is with the rich or whether it is with the poor. And it makes no difference to you who is rich or who is poor. A chance to have a unique relationship with whomever. The kind of personality that’s comfortable. The kind of personality that’s not bent out of shape.

And lastly, let’s not forget charisma and sophistication. Charisma with a touch of humility. This entire list is more valuable than money. With one dollar and the list I just gave you, the world is yours. It belongs to you, whatever piece of it you desire whatever development you wish for your life. I’ve given you the secret. Capital. The kind of capital that is more valuable than money and that can secure your future and fortune. Remember that you lack not the resources.

To Your Success,
Jim Rohn
