If your serious about starting a paintball field then get ready for the roller coaster ride of your life.
The highest highs- Typically this is in the pre planing stages, your excitement grows and you realise you are finally going to do this. Then you find that perfect location after listening to my CD ” How to start a successful paintball field “. You discover the land owner is very flexible and you have a no money down lease in place. Whoo hooo you are on top of the world.
Next you go to www.moneypaintball.org and do all your shopping and we come up with your dream package. Then after 24 hours we have your financing approved! You are on top of the world!
The lowest lows- Too soon you discover the county or city has to approve your business at the next town meeting. For some this is a big deal because who is the county to tell you that you can’t do something. Your Paintball field is only going to help the town, believe me I know how you feel. The good news is 90% of the time it’s not a issue however they may want you to do some costly improvements which you didn’t plan on. So you soon find yourself truly understanding that sometimes it’s twice the money and twice the time you expected and budgeted for.
Don’t get too down, the possibilities are always greater than the impossibilities. In this case you may find the land owner is more than happy to make the improvements because the value of the property will only increase.
Then out of nowhere you may discover that need more supplies but your only approved for a certain amount. Again do not lose hope, just like Walt Disney he had to start his first park small and then build on to it. Same with your paintball field , sure we all want 4 Money turf fields like Shawn Walkers new Franchised park but can we do ok with just two or even one Money Turf field? Yes. Sure we all want 10 scenario fields with all this cool terrain and real tanks etc.. But can we open with just 3 or 4? Sure you can.
The key is to just get started! A small park is better than no park at all!
This is a just the tip of the iceberg and I know your situation is unique to you, so please give us a call or e-mail so we can help. evan@evanmoney.com or 310-750-6218
The answer is a big YES! In fact starting a paintball field is one of the simplest businesses to start, here is why:
Low start up- You can literally start a nice paintball field for less than $9,000. Compare that with the $125,000 needed to start a Subway type operation.
High Cash Flow- Check the numbers in our ” Is the paintball business right for me section” The only downside to this is that 50% of all paintball fields close because they make too much money! That’s right, too much money. Most of these field owners have never made more than $30,000 a year and suddenly they are making $30,000 a month! They simply self destruct like famous athletes or movie stars or their employees steal it all.
2 day work week- Saturday and Sunday will be 95% of your business. However you may get some private groups during the week that will force you to roll out of bed. If your looking at an indoor paintball model then you will want to be open at least Thur - Sun.
Relaxed work environment- Sorry no ties allowed.
Help when you need it- With our FREE and low priced consulting and or Private Franchise Model you can get the help you need. In a recent Wells Fargo small business study Forty-nine percent say they would have had an easier time had they asked for more advice from experienced business owners.

As a Paintball feild owner or someone starting a paintball field what Walmart does or does not do can greatly influence your business. In one of my early blogs I reported Walmart’s intention of dropping out of paintball in their stores similar to what Cabella’s and Sportsman’s Warehouse have done.
As it turns out Walmart has decided not to abandon paintball in all it’s stores. Just like any product on a Walmart shelf, if it does not produce a certain margin or sales numbers, it’s gone and replaced with something else.
After talking with some qualified industry insiders Walmart has eliminated paintball from some stores and continues to do so. However in some stores they have simply reduced the shelf space and other stores have been unaffected. Walmart has continued to order paintball supplies through the first 3 quarters of 2009 and so far it looks like they will continue in the 4th quarter of 2009.
What is in store for 2010 in anyone’s guess and we will find out soon enough. I personally believe Walmart is a blessing for a paintball field . Why? 2 main reasons:
#1. If Walmart caries it then it must be safe or OK to do. Think about it, little Bobby wants to go play paintball for his next birthday party and Mama bear is concerned. However Mama bear did see paintball markers at Walmart the last time she was there, subconsciously this is a huge factor in her decision to let little Bobby play.
#2. It’s great advertising. Think about it, if you walk down the isle you can’t miss the paintball items. It gets you thinking about it. Many a bachelor party has been booked simply because some one walked down the isle and saw some paintball stuff and it gave them the idea to go play.
That’s it for today, for some great info on starting a paintball field go to : www.moneypaintball.org
If this is the first blog of mine your reading then welcome, we are glad to have you. As a recap the Money Paintball Blogs are designed for people that are looking to start a paintball field or paintball field owners that need a few ideas or support.
This blog is all about Paintball Netting and why it can be such a pain in the rear to work with. First off you need to understand that in order for a Paintball net to meet the ASTM standards it must be able to stop 10 shots from 15 feet away at 300 feet per second. NOT POINT BLANK SHOTS! Let me be very clear on this, the ASTM standards for paintball netting do not require protection from Point Blank Shots. This is why the ASTM states you need a 15 foot buffer on both sides of the net. This means spectators should not be allowed within 15 feet of the net. Nor should players on the other side.
I know what your thinking, most fields DO NOT DO THIS! You are correct and it is sad indeed. This is the main reason we have worked with the TUFF NET manufactures to build a net that can withstand pointblank shots. Click here for more info on that: Tuff Net Heavy Weave
The other issue with Paintball Netting is the wind. In order to stop a paintball the net has to be a tight weave, this does not allow for much wind to pass threw it. It’s critical to make sure you either get our pole system that allows you to lower your net or create you own pulley system. Otherwise you need to make sure to double cross brace your net on both sides. If you don’t you will simply need to buy new netting sooner than later because the wind will destroy it. I can’t tell you how many times I have sold netting to the same customer because they are simply too lazy to cross brace or lower their nets. Make sure to avoid this mistake. As a Global Entrepreneur I have been blessed with the ability to see many other industries from the inside. To this day there is still something magical about the sport of paintball. My role is to work with paintball field owners and come along side them to help them start profitable and stay profitable. To do this I still need to know what it is that paintball players want and need. Below is a quote from a beginner paintball team that really says it all and I wanted to share it with you.
“First and foremost, I want to say thank you for the generosity you’ve displayed with the sponsorship of our team. This is going to sound corny, but having the financial backing to compete in a complete tournament series has done something you may not have intended. We haven’t competed in anything as brothers since we played hockey together 10 years ago. Coming together on a team again has pulled us all a little closer and that is something that is awesome no matter how things turn out on the field. So again, thank you for providing the vehicle for that improvement in our lives.”
This is just one of thousands of stories like this, the reason I share it is because owning a paintball field is so much more than just a business. So if you really want to make a difference in peoples lives then owing a paintball field is a great way to go.
I just did a great interview with Ed from an adventure type website. This interview will give you a small snap shot of what I believe and what I write in my Blogs to you, the soon to be or existing paintball field owner.
Check out http://www.ooh.com/blog/general/470/ Ed has a really cool site, I was honored to be a part of it.
One the questions I get all the time from people that want to start a paintball field is about tournaments. Yes they are a revenue source for a field owner but if they are done right they increase the player base. This is what make the RPL so great:
1,000 spectators showed up for the first event held at the Bakersfield Fairgrounds 2/28-3/1/09. Over 50 teams competed and 47 of them were brand new teams. Money Paintball is proud to be a major sponsor of this new league that is rebuilding tournament paintball. Low entry fees, true beginner divisions and Pro Referees are just a few of the big improvements.
For the Bakersfield event Rich Telford was the Ultimate Ref and big names like Thomas Taylor were reffing as well as coaching the younger players. Plus signing tons of autographs. Shawn Walker has really proved that he does what he says and the whole sport is better for it.

I get asked this question about everyday sometimes up to 10 times a day. So it dawned on me that people would like some clear simple answers. So that is the purpose of this blog, however you will need to read my other blogs to fully understand what I’m going to write. I know most of you won’t and that’s too bad, because if you really want to get out of your dead end job or your sick and tired of corporate America or your an exhausted entrepreneur that wants a part time business with full time income ( over $30,000 a month in most cases) then you need to put in a little effort and read what I have for you.
With that said I will begin. First off I’m a huge believer that the possibilities are always greater than the impossibilities. Secondly starting a paintball field is one of the most forgiving and cash flow positive businesses that I have every seen. It really is the biggest secret in the business world. Those that treat it like a business create tremendous wealth for themselves and are a blessing to their community because of what the sport provides that no other sport can. I cover this in detail in my other blogs.
Ok now let’s get down to the question at hand for all you soon to be paintball field owners. The first step in any journey is to define reality and figure out where you are, then you figure out where you want to go. So let’s cover the first scenario- You want to start a paintball field but you have no business experience and no credit and you think that if you can just get the right business plan the bank will give you money:
If you do have a big dream and no credit its ok! Just face reality, NO BANK WILL LOAN YOU MONEY!
The ” business plan is irrelevant”.
However other people will loan you money! There are all kinds of private investors out there! No I’m not talking about Venture Capitalists. I’m talking Angel investors or Private Investors. These are people with LOT’S of money and want to help a dreamer! I’m an ANGEL INVESTOR myself so believe me I know. I can not stand the bureaucracy of banks etc.. So when someone approached me about a business that was working and just need some more $$$$ I was in! However I do charge a very large interest rate, and so will other Angel investors.
These people are out there but you need to find them, it’s called networking. I’m not going to go into that whole process but you need to be willing to open your mouth and start talking to people. Also you don’ t try it for a week then quit and say I couldn’t find anyone! If you want it bad enough you can find the right investor.
Also when you do find a potential investor, have you stuff ready, do your research find out exactly what it will cost. Print out the packages from my website www.emoneypaintball.net find out what rent will be, figure out what you are going to change and here it is are you ready!!!! Have a basic business plan. You don’t need a $5,000 business plan, a pen and a calculator works fine, here is an example:
Equipment: $60,000 Indoor Turn Key Package
Rent: $5,000 per month (Includes heat, a/c etc)
Employees: 2 part time total $3,000 per month
Revenue: Open 5 days a week 20 players per day = 400 players per month. $55 per player = $22,000
This is really all you need in the beginning stages, a potential investor would look at this and be happy to take the next step with you.
Another Option for financing is our NO CREDIT CHECK INSTANT FINANCING! Call us for more details on this! 310-750-6218 or Toll FREE 1-866-999-MONEY
Ok the next scenario is you have decent or good credit but no business experience and you think that if you can just get the right business plan the bank will give you money:
98% of the time the answer is NO WAY, NOT IN THIS LIFETIME. Paintball is not on the banks radar, they don’t care how good the business plan is, Paintball is not considered a real business to them. “Ya but I know other people who have gotten money etc..” These people already have a business relationship with their bank , that is why they got the money. However there are alternatives. So keep reading.
Trying to get a loan via a business plan at the bank has about the same probability as you winning the lottery in 98% of the cases that I have seen in my 15 years experience. So rather than fighting to be that 2% I recommend a much better way. Listen closely:
Step # 1 - Rent or Lease the land. I cover all the benefits of this in my other Blogs but the main reason is it costs you ZERO out of pocket! Land and building owners are more flexible than they have ever been. You are in the best time in history to start a field.
Step # 2- Take advantage of our 100% financing and the main reason again is that it’s ZERO out of pocket. You will need decent credit, 600 Fico score or higher is recommended if your a start up. However if you own a business already for more than 2 years your credit can be much lower.
Doing this plan allows you to open NOW! Once you open you can build that relationship with your bank. When they see the cash coming in on a monthly bases after about 6 months or a year the same guy that turned you down will be approaching you begging to let you borrow money. It’s the oddest thing and I have experienced it myself first hand. It just the way the game is played.
Take my advice, TAKE ACTION NOW and start your field , do it small if you have to and then build it up as you go. You will be glad you did. Feel free to contact us evan@evanmoney.com or call 1-866-999-MONEY

I heard a speaker the other day say that more millionaires were created in the great depression than any other time in the 20th century. For those that have read my other blogs or heard me speak I have been “preaching” for some time about how the entertainment industries thrived during the great depression. people want to forget their problems, I have said this over and over.
People want to escape, that’s why as a paintball field owner you are in a great time in history. Movies, Day Spa’s and Disneyland are all booming right now and so is paintball. Take advantage of this time.
Sometimes we need to step back in order to make a bigger move forward. That is where paintball is right now. NPPL going bankrupt, Walmart pulling out of paintball, economic changes, just to name a few. So as a paintball field owner what does this mean to you. Well if you own a store it’s great news, Walmart is out of paintball as of June 09, so you can now sell low end markers again.
With the whole NPPL thing the manufactures that are left are now more open to working together and supporting beginner and player focused leagues like THE RPL www.therpl.com
So as everyone stops to re access the paintball industry, I think at last we can get more unity that will allow us, dare I say, a shot at the Olympics. Look at any USA team or athlete that brings home the gold, that industry soars. Try getting some lap time at your gym pool, everyone wants to be Micheal Phelps. Women’s volleyball is making a huge jump here in So Cal and in many other places. You name it , when USA wins everyone is on the bandwagon. Imagine what that would do for the sport of paintball. Can it happen? YES! But we need people to work together which is always easier said than done.
I believe the paintball industry will re-group and be bigger , better and more unified than before. Won’t you join me!
