You may be wondering if this " paintball thing" is for you or if it's worth your time and money as an investment. To help you answer this question for yourself I have put together helpful and detailed information below that will answer your investment questions and give you insights on how to run a paintball business.

Paintball is a unique animal and if you’re not trained correctly you can lose BIG! However with the right training you can reap returns that you would not believe, providing that your adding value to your customers and community.

The national average Gross Profit per player is $45 per person. Your facility should do an average of 500 to 2000 players per month or more, so that gives you approx $20,000 to $90,000 a month.

In Paintball there are 3 types of basic players-

# 1- Recreational player- This player owns his own equipment and plays 2 to 3 times every 60 to 90 days. If your facility is top notch he and all his friends will flock to your field and pay whatever it is you charge.

# 2- Private group players- This player does not own his equipment and plays approx 2 to 4 times per year with his friends / co workers in a private group setting. This includes other groups like Church groups, Bachelor Parties, Corporate/Team building, Birthday parties etc..

This is the bread and butter of your field; these players will make up most of your profit.

# 3- Tournament style players- This player is consumed by the sport, he lives to play and plays to live. He finds ways to play as often as he can and spends all of his money on gear etc..

Tournament players are a separate breed and need to be handled in a special way, ultimately you would want separate parking and a separate entrance for these players. As well as separate staging / bathrooms / food areas as well.

The good news about Tournament players is that you don’t have to market to them, they will find you and bring many other teams in tow. Plus they don’t need much supervision, they want to do they own thing. All they need is Air and someone to sell them Food and water.

Each type of player is attracted to a certain type of field.

The ideal complex would have 4 “speedball fields” 2 for rec players and 2 dedicated to Tournament players only –Plus 2 or more “woodsball/Jungle fields/Natural terrain fields” –

In a perfect world you would have two of the Speedball fields next to the road to attract attention.

The lay out of the complex needs to set up for predictability and good traffic flow, you want to know where your customers are going to go as well as how to coordinate each group in order to keep everyone playing. You need the bathrooms to be in a convenient spot as well as the snack shack.

The goal is to make it very easy and relaxing for your customers to spend money. If they are having a great time they don’t care how much it costs, they want to escape there problems and enter into a fantasy type world. They more fun they have the sooner they will be back with friends.
