Paintball turf is much different than standard turf. Normal turf sellers have no idea what specific needs outdoor paintball and indoor paintball field owners need. Are they bad people? No, they just don't understand.

Padding and paintball do not mix what so ever. The normal open cell foam absorbs all the gelatin from the paintballs and then begins to rot very quickly. Then it starts to stink like a dead wet animal. Needless to say, not good for business.

There are newer closed cell foams but they are more expensive than the turf itself.

Also, foam is not needed for paintball. Paintball is just like Major League Baseball. You have athletes being paid over $20 million a year that are running and sliding on hard dirt. They do not get injured because of the way they play, which is just like paintball, running and sliding vs. getting sacked by a 250 lb linebacker who drives you into the ground.
